Welcome to the G.V. Black District Dental Society!

The G. V. Black District Dental Society is a component (local dental society) of the Illinois State Dental Society and American Dental Association and has been serving the profession of dentistry since 1929.

The Society was named in honor of Dr. Greene Vardiman Black, who was born in 1836 in central Illinois and is known as "one of the founders of modern dentistry". Today, the Society has 155 members who are located in Sangamon, Logan, Menard, Cass, Morgan, Scott and Montgomery counties and a portion of Macoupin County within Illinois. Members includes general practitioners as well as dental specialists.

Election Notice for 2026 ISDS House of Delegates

The 2026 House of Delegates will be held August 28-29 at the Isle Casino Hotel in the Quad Cities.

Each ISDS component must elect its delegate(s) and alternate(s) for the 2026 House of Delegates. Per ISDS Bylaws, please notify Tara Conway via email at tconway@isds.org or FAX at 217-525-8872 of those selections no later than Wednesday, July 29, 2026.

Bylaws language regarding terms for delegates and alternates:

CHAPTER II - HOUSE OF DELEGATES
Section 4. Terms of Delegates: Terms of delegates and alternate delegates shall commence at the beginning of the annual session and end at the beginning of the next annual session. Delegates shall be elected annually. 

*Please note that the 2025 ISDS HOD passed Resolution #11, which removed the 5 consecutive year term limit for delegates to serve.

The list (click here) shows the number of delegates each component and branch has been allocated, based on the formula of up to 75 members per delegate.

Components and branches may elect alternate delegates, equal to the number of delegates, but it is not required.
