Welcome to the G.V. Black District Dental Society!

The G. V. Black District Dental Society is a component (local dental society) of the Illinois State Dental Society and American Dental Association and has been serving the profession of dentistry since 1929.

The Society was named in honor of Dr. Greene Vardiman Black, who was born in 1836 in central Illinois and is known as "one of the founders of modern dentistry". Today, the Society has 155 members who are located in Sangamon, Logan, Menard, Cass, Morgan, Scott and Montgomery counties and a portion of Macoupin County within Illinois. Members includes general practitioners as well as dental specialists.

Down State Society Caucus is Accepting Nominations for ADA Delegates and Alternates for 2027

Nominations are now being accepted for Delegates and Alternates to serve Illinois in the Eighth District Delegation to the 2027 ADA House of Delegates in Denver, Colorado. “We encourage the election of ADA Council members and first-time or new dentist delegates for our delegation to better represent the dentists of Illinois.” Election of the Delegates and Alternates will be conducted at the Downstate Dental Society Caucus meeting on Saturday, August 29, 2026, during the ISDS Annual Session in the Quad Cities.

Letters of intent and CVs are due by July 29, 2026 and are to be addressed to the Caucus and emailed to Tara Conway at tconway@isds.org.
