Welcome to the G.V. Black District Dental Society!

The G. V. Black District Dental Society is a component (local dental society) of the Illinois State Dental Society and American Dental Association and has been serving the profession of dentistry since 1929.

The Society was named in honor of Dr. Greene Vardiman Black, who was born in 1836 in central Illinois and is known as "one of the founders of modern dentistry". Today, the Society has 155 members who are located in Sangamon, Logan, Menard, Cass, Morgan, Scott and Montgomery counties and a portion of Macoupin County within Illinois. Members includes general practitioners as well as dental specialists.

Dr. Ben Youel Elected Second Vice President of the American Dental Association

Dr. Ben Youel, D.D.S., was recently elected at the ADA House of Delegates Meeting at SmileCon in Washington, D.C. on October 27.

Congratulations to ISDS member, Dr. Ben Youel, who was voted American Dental Association Second Vice President by the House of Delegates on October 27, 2025, in Washington, DC.  Dr. Youel is the youngest person ever elected to the position of ADA second vice president.

Dr. Youel has served on both the ADA and ISDS in the following roles:

ADA Finance Committee, 2023 - present
ADA Council on Membership, 2019 - 2022
ADA New Dentist Committee, 2017 - 2021
ADA Council on Scientific Affairs, 2017 - 2018
ISDS Board of Trustees, 2023 - 2025
