We Did It! Final Push for Patient Protections!

May 24, 2024

ISDS Members,

We are excited to share some great news from the final stretch of Illinois’ legislative session. Our DIY Teeth Straightening legislation has successfully passed both chambers and is now awaiting the Governor's signature before becoming law.

Thanks to the outstanding participation of hundreds of you who responded to numerous action alerts throughout the year, your involvement drove our advocacy efforts forward. We also want to thank the ISDS legislative team for their robust efforts in advocating for Illinois dentists at the capitol.

Our push for these essential protections will mean that standards in teledentistry will match those of in-person dental services.

Why This Matters:

  • Quality Care: Ensures that teledentistry meets in-person care standards, including thorough medical history reviews and x-rays.
  • Proper Examinations: Mandates in-person exams before providing teledentistry services.
  • Informed Choices: Guarantees patient rights to file complaints and share experiences.

We look forward to sharing more information on this and our legislative wins in the coming weeks.
